2014 AGTA Spectrum Awards and John Ford Jewelers from NYC to LA

This past weekend the American Gem Trade Association shot the 2014 Spectrum Award-winning jewelry on celebrities Marg Helgenberger and Taraji P. Henson in Los Angeles. The shoot was produced and styled by fashion expert, Tod Hallman of THP Fashion, Inc.
John Ford Jewelers was recently awarded Platinum Honors in the Classical Division of the American Gem Trade Association’s 2014 Spectrum Awards. The award winning ring by John Ford will be included in the photo shoot. “I can’t wait to see my creation on these beautiful ladies. I am honored”, commented the beaming John Ford.
The ring John created features a black opal that he purchased in Lightning Ridge, Australia in July. He named the ring “The Maxine” in honor of Maxine O’Brien, manager of the Lightning Ridge Miners Association Ltd., in recognition of all her hard work and dedication promoting Australian opal. The ring contains an oval Lightning Ridge black opal weighing 5.76 carats accented by 2.44 carats of round and baguette diamonds set in platinum.
Emmy Award®-winner and Golden Globe® nominee Marg Helgenberger is currently starring in the new CBS drama series Intelligence, also starring Josh Holloway. The show is scheduled to premiere in February 2014. She recently ended her twelfth season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, for which she has earned two Emmy® nominations. The critically acclaimed show airs Wednesday nights at 10:00PM on CBS and is executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Her character, Catherine Willows is a single mother working as a crime scene analyst on the graveyard shift in Las Vegas.
Taraji P. Henson earned an Academy Award® nomination for Best Supporting Actress opposite Brad Pitt in David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Taraji is a 2011 Emmy® nominee for Best Actress in a Movie or Miniseries for Lifetime’s Taken From Me. She stars as Detective Joss Carter in the highly-rated J.J. Abrams crime drama Person of Interest for CBS opposite Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson. Taraji starred in the major hit Think Like a Man, which opened to #1 at the box office and just completed Think Like a Man Too. She will next star in Sony’s No Good Deed opposite Idris Elba which opens in April 2014.
The celebrities and jewelry were shot by famed photographer Brian Bowen Smith. Born and raised in New York, Smith caught the eye of legendary photographer Herb Ritts. After Brian appeared in a Gap campaign, Herb became his mentor and friend, which helped Brian develop his personal photographic style. Brian Bowen Smith has shot for W, Vanity Fair, Esquire, Self and Interview; he lives in Los Angeles with his wife and young son.
